The other problem with Starlink ~ Phil Herridge

Starlink interference with astronomical observations has been highlighted by a number of bodies representing telescope operators, academics and amateur astronomers. Less well known is the potential dangers these satellites pose for the use of near Earth space.

This talk will skim human use of space, and outline what "Starlink" actually is. Space junk and debris is increasing making our use of space more difficult. Efforts are being made to mitigate the build up of junk, guidelines have been introduced to safeguard the near-Earth environment and future use of space.

The talk will show why Starlink and the other new constellations may become a particular problem for the future use of space.
