An update on exoplanets and the search for extra-terrestrial life ~ Ronald Anderson

 The first possible evidence of an exoplanet was noted in 1917 but was not recognized as such. The first confirmation of detection occurred in 1992. A different planet, initially detected in 1988, was confirmed in 2003. In March 2022, there were 5000 officially confirmed exoplanets found, a "cosmic milestone", according to NASA.

 This talk will summarise the history of the Earth both geologically and with regard to life.

 Are we alone? is the question often asked. There are a few possible candidates for life in the planets so far discovered. 

 How will life be detected? Some of the techniques used will be examined.
