There has been a deluge this year of articles in the press, popular scientific journals and Company websites of advances in Fusion Power. What is evident is the impact of commercial “spin off” Companies where roadmaps are being put to experimental test in contrast to the ponderous progress of generational collaborative projects. It is becoming clear that the impact of new technologies is broadening scientific possibilities and given the urgency of a non-carbon economy, the emphasis is in short-listing in the next year or so candidates for demonstrator reactors road mapped to commercial power generation. The talk is meant to be a guide to what to look out for.
