Progress with the installation of WEAVE at the WHT ~ Dr. Chris Benn (Head of Astronomy, Isaac Newton Telescope Group)

A powerful new multi-object spectrograph, WEAVE, has been installed at the prime focus of the 4.2-m William Herschel Telescope on La Palma.

WEAVE will allow spectra of up to ~1000 objects in the telescope's 2-deg field of view to be observed simultaneously.  First light was in 2023, and the first science paper from WEAVE has now been accepted for publication.

In this talk we provide an overview of progress to date, and a summary of what remains to be done to bring to fruition the full multi-object functionality of WEAVE
