Update on the TESS Exoplanet Mission and Amateur Contributions ~ Dr. Dennis Conti (Chair, AAVSO Exoplanet Section Member, TESS Follow-up Observing Program)

The Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) represents NASA's current exoplanet discovery space telescope. However, the success of the mission requires  ground-based follow-up observations to confirm the exoplanet candidates it has identified. This presentation will discuss the reasons for this and how amateur astronomers are ideally suited to provide a key role in the success of the mission.
