How do we know exactly where we are on the surface of the Earth-impact on Earth Science and society ~ Dr. Graham Appleby

This talk will give an account of how and why an enormous global effort is expended to form an International Terrestrial Reference Frame (ITRF). The UK analysis work for the upcoming ITRF2020 Frame has recently been completed at the British Geological Survey Space Geodesy Facility, Herstmonceux in collaboration with our colleague in Yebes, Spain. We explore the observational and analytical techniques used at Herstmonceux and globally as well as, importantly, why this work is supported and carried out.
