The Sun, Our Nearest Star ~ At our November meeting discussion will centre on our nearest star, our Sun. We investigate how old it is, how it was formed and how our ideas of how it is powered have changed over the millenia. Its changing chemical composition gives some indication as wht the future holds for us here on Earth and how that will hold the key to its eventual fete. The Sun's activity and the solar cycles it passes through have an inportant impact on life on Earth, but the Sun's influence extends well beyond the Earth into the cold icy depths of the most distant parts of our solar system.
Also Roy Bicknell will discuss Imaging the Moon . Roy made an early morning start on the 8th September and will describe the images he took, and the post processing, of the Moon.
